5,000 Puck Challenge Won by Squirt Majors

Brian Nasto Over the summer, members of the Connecticut Clippers 1995 squirt team were involved a summer puck shooting event sponsored by www.betterhockey.com and Dr. Clint Steele. The "5,000 Puck Challenge" challenged the kids to shoot 5,000 pucks over the course of ten weeks this summer using a specified shot or shots each week as prescribed by Dr. Steele.

The Connecticut Clippers are proud to report that six members of the team met the challenge with Brian Nasto (pictured) being the 10 year old and under national champion. (Several hundred boys began the tournament, but many dropped out along the way...)

Nasto registered over 38,000 pucks shot and won the national individual 10 and under competition and the Clipper Squirt Major 95's won the team competition with a total of over 68,000 pucks shot.

"While the obvious benefit from the our kids' participation in this event was the improvement in their shooting skills (and their golf swings), a more significant benefit was that the 5,000 puck challenge required them to demonstrate and exercise initiative, dedication, discipline and perseverance." said Coach Carl Nasto. "This challenge provided the kids with the opportunity to hone and develop these important life skills, which will help to make them better students in the classroom and athletes on the ice."

Coach Pat Kilray went on to say, "I am very proud of all the boys. The commitment shown by them will hopefully push their teammates to do their absolute best. Commitment and hard work always pays off. No Excuses...Find a way to get it done was definately the motto of those 6 guys." The results for all six players were as follows:
      Brian Nasto - 38,583
      Matt Bosco - 10,000
      Kevin Cop - 5,550
      Max DellaGrotte - 5,333
      Max Tulimieri - 5,239
      Kyle Whelan - 5,175
