Squirt Minors Weekend Report
The Clipper Squirt Minors’ heart and conditioning were tested on Saturday by an older, bigger Mid Fairfield Squirt A (Tier 2) team. The Clippers prevailed in a close, fast paced 4-3 victory.The two teams skated to a scoreless tie at the end of the first period. The defense stepped up yet again to shut down their opponent in the early going. Al Rogers made ten saves in the first period.
Mid Fairfield out-skated the Clippers to the puck in the second period and by the second intermission, had a two to nothing lead.
In the third period the Clippers offense stepped up and scored three unanswered goals in the first nine minutes (Adam Shea (pictured), Evan Sliker and Taggart Corriveau). Mid Fairfield answered back with a goal to tie the game with six and a half minutes left in the third but with five minutes left Taggart Corriveau scored his second goal for the lead and the Clippers shut down Mid Fairfield for the remainder of the game to hang on for the win. Goalie Al Rogers had 29 saves.
Assists went to Adam Shea, Evan Sliker, Matt Trevethan, Taggart Corriveau, Matt Boucher and Christian DiDonato.
