Bantam Minors Weekend Report
The Connecticut Clippers Bantam Minor team was on the roll this past weekend with two big league
victories.Saturday the North Shore Hurricanes came to Cromwell to do battle with the Clippers hoping to avenge a 5-4 loss on September 18. The first period was controlled by the Clippers with Scotty Bialczak making several good defensive plays stopping the offensive efforts of the canes.
Bruce Bedrick scored with 3 minutes left in the period with an assist from Jamison Etting and the period ended with the Clippers on top 1-0.
The 'Canes came out firing in the second and tied the score two minutes into the period. The Clippers responded with Nick Kruczek scoring at the nine minute mark assisted by Kurt Wehr. Ross Burton then added an unassisted goal with three minutes left in the period to give the 1992 team a 3-1 advantage.
The Hurricanes showed no quit as they narrowed the score to 3-2 with 13 minutes left to play. Scotty Steele was again outstanding in net with 22 saves until Jamison Etting put the icing on the cake with a tally showing only 1:30 left on the clock to give the Clippers a hard fought 4-2 victory.
Sunday, the Clippers traveled to Hooksett, New Hampshire to play the Avalanche who they had tied 1-1 at Olympia in the NEEHL Showcase. The Clippers showed no rust after their long drive and Jamison Etting scored a goal late in the first period with assists going to Mike Diglio and Scotty Bialczak. Midway through the second period, Ross Burton scored with an assist from Sam Nassetta and the Clippers took a 2-0 lead. Sam Nassettta scored a goal with 20 seconds gone in the third period with assists going to Mike Diglio and Scotty Bialczak and the Clippers had a commanding 3-0 lead. Trevor Hirst was outstanding in net with a combined 27 saves.
The Avalanche did score with 4 minutes left in the game to spoil the shutout but the complete defensive effort of the Clippers showed that this group will be a force to be reckoned with in this NEEHL season.
