Bantam Minors Weekend Report
Finding the net proved impossible for the Clippers this weekend as the
Bantam Minor team failed to score in two hotly contested games.Saturday evening the MassConn White team scored a goal early in the third period to defeat the Clippers 1-0. The final score did not reflect the game as the Clippers outshot the MassConn team 31-15. The first and second period were dominated by the hard skating Clippers but could not score as the MassConn goaltender made 27 saves. Trevor Hirst matched for the Clippers with 9 saves.
The third period saw the Clippers run out of gas and could only muster 4 shots on net. The effort was there both on offense and defense but the results were disappointing.
Sunday, the Clippers traveled to Lake Grove, NY to play the powerful Suffolk PAL team.
The first period was a see-saw battle that ended with the PAL team scoring a goal late in the period to take a 1-0 lead.
The second period was more of the same as Suffolk scored with 4 minutes to go to take a 2-0 lead going into the third. The fast paced play continued but the PAL team held on and scored late in the third to complete the scoring for a hard fought 3-0 win.
Both goaltenders were outstanding as Scotty Steele for the Clippers made 28 saves and ryan manseau for PAL made 27.
This coming weekend has the Clippers playing two NEEHL opponents and with the hard work and effort they have shown the results will be more favorable.
