Bantam Minor Weekend Report

Due to last minute cancellations the Bantam Minor team only had one game scheduled for this past weekend. The game was an important league game however and the Clippers didn't disappoint as they skated to a 6-4 victory over MassConn White.

Mike Diglio started the Clippers off on the right skate as he scored with 8 minutes left in the first on an assist from Ross Burton. Burton scored two minutes later on assists from Sam Nassetta and Peter Eshenfelder as the Clippers extended their lead to 2-0. A penalty to Colin Mcleod enabled the Braves to get back in the game with a power play goal with four minutes left as the period ended with the Clippers up 2-1.

Colin Mcleod scored on a nifty move just two minutes into the second period as the Clippers extended their lead to 3-1. The home team was not done however as they closed to 3-2 with five minutes gone in the period.

The Braves scored another power play goal two minutes later and the Clippers found themselves tied 3-3. The Clippers Mike Diglio scored his second goal on an assist from Kurt Wehr as the Clippers jumped ahead 4-3 with seven minutes left in the second.

The see-saw continued as MassConn scored a goal to tie the score 4-4 with three inutes left in the second period.

Shayne Catala came right back for the Clippers on an assist from Ross Burton 10 seconds later and when the smoke had cleared the Clippers held a 5-4 advantage as the second period ended.

The third period saw only the Clippers score as a beautiful passing play involving Scotty Bialczak, Shayne Catala, and goal scorer Sam Nassetta allowed the Clippers to skate away with a hard fought 6-4 victory and two important points in the league standings.
