Squirt A Weekend Report

This past weekend the Clippers’ Squirt A team began their 2006-2007 season visiting the Greater New Haven Warriors in Northford. The Clippers came in as a young Squirt A team made up primarily of ‘97s. The Warriors represented an experienced team of ’96 age skaters. The Warriors scored the only two goals of the first period.

The Clippers got on the board in the second period when Tyler Juliano put in a rebound of a Garret O’Brien shot. Steven Plotkin earned the other assist. Greater New Haven came back seconds later scoring their third goal. The second period ended 3-1 Warriors.

The Clippers were skating better, with more confidence as the game was progressing.

The experienced Warriors however, kept pounding the puck towards the Clippers’ goalie. Greater New Haven scored half way through the third period to give them a three goal lead. The Clippers came right back when Chris Adamsons scored on a “wrap around” goal from behind the net. Duncan Tulimieri and Cameron Bernadel earned assists on the goal.

The Warriors closed out the scoring with three minutes to go. The final score was 5-2; Greater New Haven. Outside of the outstanding effort given by the Clippers skaters, it should be noted that their goaltender, Kyle Thibodeaux, “stood on his head” making 38 saves, keeping his team within reach throughout the game.
