Climb for Cancer Foundation's 2008 Mount Kilimanjaro Expedition
Dear Clipper Families,I recently accepted the challenge to be a Team Member in the Climb for Cancer Foundation's 2008 Mount Kilimanjaro Expedition. I will be joining a team of individuals to climb the highest mountain in Africa in January of 2008. However, reaching the summit of Kilimanjaro is only half of my goal. I also have a goal to raise a minimum of $10,000 for the Climb for Cancer Foundation.
Did you know that 1 in 2 men, and 1 in 3 women, will develop cancer in their lifetime. Fourteen million new cases are expected to be diagnosed nationwide in 2007 alone.
The Climb for Cancer Foundation hopes to make a tangible impact on the lives of those affected by cancer, whether it is through research funded in part by the Foundation, giving children an opportunity to attend Camp Sunshine, a camp for children with cancer, or alleviating some of the financial burden patients and their families face when they must travel to obtain proper cancer treatment. The Foundation likes to think that their small gifts fill in the cracks left behind by organizations that make much larger gifts.
