Squirt Majors 9/8 Recap

The Squirt Majors started their season off with a tough loss to Suffolk.

On Saturday the Squirt Majors hosted Suffolk PAL. The first goal was a beautiful short-handed goal scored by Taggart Corriveau assisted by Chris Adamsons. Tyler Augustinsen followed shortly with an unassisted goal, and scored again in the first period assisted by Taggart Corriveau and David Piekut. A strong defensive first period allowed only one goal in for the Suffolk PAL team. The second period saw a reverse of play with the Suffolk PAL team scoring three and the Clippers scoring one goal by Taggart Corriveau assisted by Tyler Agustinsen. Brendan Pelletier had many strong saves, among them being a hard shot from the defensive position which he glove saved and then rolled to keep the puck from bouncing back into the net. At the beginning of the third period the teams were tied 4-4 and both were looking for ways to get ahead. The Suffolk team came on strong in the third and had the Clippers scrambling to defend their goal. Suffolk scored three goals in the first half of the third period, when Tyler Juliano scored an unassisted goal to help stem the tide. Two more Suffolk goals were to follow until the Clippers came on strong in the last 40 seconds of the game to score two goals, the first by David Piekut with the assist going to Taggart Corriveau from the face-off, and the second an unassisted grab from the face-off by Corriveau. Unfortunately, despite the work on the ice, the Suffolk team came back to score five goals to the Clippers three, ending the game as a 7-9 loss.
