Squirt Majors 10/6 Recap

The Squirt Majors hosted the Westchester Express out of New York, a hard fought game against a tough team. The Clippers pulled together in an exciting game with tight teamwork. The first period ended with a 1-1 tie, with Chase Harwell, assisted by David Piekut, scoring the only goal after the team effectively sent several nice passes through the Express' defense. The Clippers found their grove in the second and third periods, both shutting down the Express' offensive plays and outscoring them by adding another 6 goals to the score board to the Express' zero. Harwell scored unassisted in the 2nd followed by Jarod Florian, assisted by Tyler Augustinsen and Taggart Corriveau, assisted by Evan Sliker. Corriveau earned himself a hat-trick in the third period with assists going to Harwell and Sliker, and the coveted hat-trick was not out of Harwell's grasp as he scored his third unassisted and short handed to end the game in a 7-1 win.

The Squirt Majors traveled to Stamford Twin Rinks to face Mid Fairfield on Sunday. This was a turn about for the Clippers as they faced the reverse of Saturday's game, finding themselves with few scoring opportunities. The only goal scored in the game was earned by Taggart Corriveau, but sadly the Clippers were unable to come back from a 5 goal deficit from the 1st and 2nd periods. They were able to hold off Mid Fairfield in the third period and allowed them only one goal, ending the game with a 1-6 loss.
