Squirt Majors 10/20 Recap

The Squirt Majors traveled to Ashburn, VA this weekend to face the Ashburn Extreme.

Saturday's game was an exciting and hard fought game between the teams. Taggart Corriveau started the game out with the Clippers' first goal, assisted by David Piekut. Chase Harwell helped out unassisted later in the period bringing the Clippers score to two from the face-off. The period ended with a 1-2 lead. Harwell had a strong second period with a pass from Corriveau off of the face for the first goal in the 2nd, Harwell scored again, earning himself a hat trick, with assistance from his teammates, Corriveau and Piekut. Tyler Augustinsen got into the action with help from Jarod Florian and Chris Adamsons, ending the 2nd period with a 4-5 lead. The only goal scored in the third period went to the Clippers' with Harwell adding one more with help from Piekut. Brendan Pelletier finished the game off strong by holding off all shot attempts on goal. A beautiful save goes to Pelletier in the third where he went down to hand save the shot and then quickly got up to pop a top shelf rebound over the net. The game ended with a 4-6 win for the Clippers.

Sunday's game proved to be a tougher game for the Clippers with the Extreme fighting hard to win. Only one goal was earned in the first period and the Clippers were able to take credit for it. Taggart Corriveau with help from Chase Harwell took a shot off of the boards to bring the score to a 0-1 lead. The second period found both teams struggling to score. Brendan Pelletier again stepped up to hold the Extreme to no goals in a period. The third period brought on two more goals for the Clippers by Harwell making a rebound shot from Evan Sliker, and Corriveau getting assistance from Harwell. The game ended with a 2-3 win for the Clippers.
