Squirt Majors 11/3 Recap
The Squirt Majors hosted the Freeport Arrows on Saturday.Saturday's game was high scoring game for the Clippers with a total of 38 shots on goal. The first period had 4 of those 38 find a home in the net with David Piekut scoring the first with help from Chase Harwell and J.R. Stiles. Tyler Augustinsen took the 2nd in unassisted from the boards while Harwell found the 3rd off of a rebound shot taken by Piekut. Piekut finished off the 1st period with the fourth goal which was a sweet wrap around shot off of a rebound shot by Noah Sanders. The first period ended with a 4-2 lead for the Clippers. Another four pucks found their resting places in the Arrows' net during the 2nd period. Augustinsen started off the period with help from Piekut, shooting a slider behind the goalie from behind the net. Augustinsen then helped out Chris Adamsons with the 2nd goal bringing the Clippers to a 6-2 lead. Tyler Juliano found his first goal of the game, assisted by Philip Motter, and Harwell finished off the 2nd with help from defensive teammate Chad St. Hilaire ending the 2nd period 8-3. While the Arrows found two more goals in the third, the Clippers were held to only one more, going to Juliano for his second of the game, with St. Hilaire again lending his assistance. The first game of the weekend ended with a 9-5 win for the Clippers.
Sunday, the Clippers traveled to Freeport to take on the Arrows for the second time. The second meeting found the teams fighting hard to shut down each other's offensive moves. The Clippers found only 2 of their 10 shots in the 1st period making it into the net. Chase Harwell started the Clippers out with help from Evan Sliker. Tyler Juliano, again with help from Philip Motter, found the second goal of the game sailing in. Harwell earned himself a hat trick in the 2nd period, his first goal was unassisted from the face-off and down the ice while the second goal had Jarod Florian lending his help. The 2nd period ended with a 0-4 lead for the Clippers, as did the game. Brendan Pelletier found his fourth shut-out of the season with his strong goal-tending.
